User Changeable Options
You can change nweb
to improve the speed and ease-of-use of your browsing experience.
NOTE: Your administrator or carrier has the option to disable the ability
to change several of the features normally available to the users of nweb. If
it is disabled at the server, the device preference will have no effect.
The following options can be changed by the user:
Screen Layout
Font Size
Image Download
Link Color
Home Page
Proxy Server (Host Address)
Cache
Advanced Settings
Network Preferences
Changing The Screen Layout
nweb allows you to
remove the menu bar and status & title bar for a maximized viewing area.
Full Screen
In Full Screen view, the menu and URL fields are removed giving a larger viewing area.
- Tap the nweb logo
- Select Full Screen from the Options menu. The displayed page reformats.
- To get out of Full Screen mode, tap the Expand Menu icon at the top right of the screen.

Changing The Font Size
If you do not like the default size of the text, you can increase it.
- Tap the nweb logo.
- Select Standard (default) or Large from the pick list
- Tap OK.

Changing How Images Are Downloaded
Images in Web pages can be very large. You can make Web pages download faster by reducing image quality or
removing images altogether. If you have a fast Internet connection, you can have images downloaded so that
they appear at their highest quality.
- Tap the nweb logo.
- Select one of the following from the Graphics pick list:
NOTE: The graphic choices available are dependant on your device’s resolution capabilities.
- No Images: All Web pages are downloaded without images.
- Low Quality: Images are compressed. This make downloading faster but results in reduced image quality.
- Normal Quality: Image quality is average.
- High Quality: Image quality is better than average. This setting sacrifices some speed for better image quality.
- Best Quality: Images are downloaded at their highest quality. This may result in longer download times.
- Tap OK.

Changing Link Colors
Visited and unvisited link colors can be changed by the user.
- Tap the nweb logo and select Display Options from the Options menu.
- Make changes to the Unvisited Links and Visited Links pick lists in the Display Options page.
- Unvisited Links: Default color is Blue.
- Visited Links: Default color is Purple.
- Tap OK.

Changing Your Home Page
Your Home Page is the Web page that displays when you first open nweb. You can change your home page to any Web address.
NOTE: Your administrator or carrier has the option to disable the ability to change the Home Page for the users of nweb.
If it is disabled at the server, the device preference will have no effect.
- Tap the nweb logo and select Preferences from the Options menu.
- In the Preferences page under the General tab, tap the Home page: text field.
- Enter the URL you want to return to whenever you tap the Home icon
- Tap OK.

Use Proxy Server (Host Address)
WARNING: Changes to the settings to the Host Address and Port should only be done at the request of the Network
Administrator or by experienced users. Improper settings will cause communication problems.
NOTE: Your administrator or carrier has the option to disable the ability to change the Host for the users of nweb.
If it is disabled at the server, the device preference will have no effect.
- Tap the nweb logo and select Preferences from the Options menu.
- In the Preferences page under the General tab, you can select to use a proxy
server. If checked, a text field appears.
- Tap the Use proxy server: text field. Enter the address and port number for the proxy server. Tap OK.

Cache
The cache is the memory that temporarily stores information. The information is stored until the cache is full.
Then it dumps old information and new information is received (first in - first out).
- Tap the nweb logo and select Preferences from the Options menu.
- In the Preferences page under the Cache tab, the functions described in the following section can be enabled/disabled.
Once the selections have been made tap OK.
Clear Cache On Exit
When enabled, this function will
automatically empty the cache when you exit nweb.This function is disabled (unchecked)
by default.
Offer Old Content In Cache
When enabled, nweb will offer the user a choice of a page from the cache that was previously viewed or downloading a fresh page from the Internet.
This function is disabled (unchecked) by default.
Cache Size
The user can configure the size of the cache. Tap the text box and enter the size of the cache.
Cache Used
This is a visual display of the amount of cache currently used.
Clear Cache (Button)
The user can manually clear the cache by tapping this button.

Advanced Settings
- Tap the nweb logo and select Preferences from the Options menu.
- In the Preferences page under the Advanced tab, the functions described in the following section can be enabled/disabled. Once the
selections have been made tap OK.
Autocomplete Text
When enabled, nweb
will automatically fill in text based on previously entered text. This function
is enabled (checked) by default.
Ask Before Connecting
When enabled, this function will ask if you want to connect to the Internet. This function is disabled (unchecked) by default.
Disconnect On Exit
When enabled, nweb will immediately disconnect from the Internet when you exit the application. This function is disabled (unchecked) by default.
Enable Cookies
Some Web sites store information in a small text file called a “cookie”. Cookies usually contain information about you and your preferences for the
Web site. A site can use this information to customize the pages you see the next time you visit.
Allowing a Web site to create a cookie does not give the site access to the rest of your handheld. A cookie only stores the information you
provide while visiting the Web site. This function is enabled (checked) by default.
Process JavaScript
NOTE: Your administrator or carrier has the option to disable JavaScript for all users of nweb. If it is disabled at the server, the
device preference will have no effect.

Autosubmit Saved Forms
When enabled, offline forms are automatically sent to the server when they are submitted.

Network Preferences
If you find you need to change your Palm OS network preferences, you can access them through nweb.
- Tap the nweb logo
and select Network from the Options menu.
- Check the Always connect using: box. From the dropdown, select your service and tap OK.
