Communicating with Others
nweb can be used to
communicate with others in several ways:
Sending E-mail
Mailing A URL
Beaming A URL
Sending E-mail
Some Web pages contain mailto links. You can use these links to send e-mails
if your Palm OS device has VersaMail or other similar e-mail application that
supports this functionality.
- Tap a mailto link on a Web page. The e-mail application opens and creates
a new e-mail. The message is already addressed to the mailto address and the
subject line may also be filled in.
- Write your e-mail message.
- If your handheld device does not have an e-mail application, or the application
does not support this function, you will get an error message.

Mailing A URL
While browsing on your device, you come across a page that you want to view
later on your desktop browser or send to someone else. Instead of trying to
remember the Web address (URL) or writing it down, nweb can send the URL through
your device's e-mail application.
- Open the Web address (URL) you want to e-mail to another device.
- Tap the nweb logo
and select Mail URL from the Page menu.
- Select the page you want to view and tap the Open button. The saved page
is now displayed.
- If you have the appropriate e-mail application, a confirmation dialog box
appears. Tap Yes. The URL for the page that was open is placed in the body
of a draft e-mail.

Beaming A URL
Did you know that some Palm OS devices have the ability to beam (send) information
between two handheld devices equipped with the appropriate infrared hardware?
nweb takes advantage of this feature.
While browsing on your device, you come across a page that you want to share
with a colleague. Instead of telling him or her the Web address (URL), writing
it down, or handing over your device, nweb can beam it to the other device.
NOTE: Both devices must contain the appropriate infrared hardware for the
Beam URL function to work. Refer to your administrator, carrier or device’s User
Manual to see if your device has this capability.
- Open the Web address (URL) you want to beam to another device.
- Tap the nweb logo
and select Beam URL from the Page menu.
- If your handheld device does not have the infrared hardware for beaming,
you will get an error message.
- If you have the appropriate hardware, nweb prepares the Web page for beaming
and then searches for the receiving device.
- If another handheld device with infrared capabilities is not detected, you will get and error message.
- If another handheld device is detected, but the device is busy, you will get an error message.
- If another device is detected and is not busy, nweb sends the URL information to the other device.
- After URL information is sent to the other device, nweb disconnects from that device and returns to the beamed page.
- A confirmation dialog box appears on the receiving device. When Yes is tapped, the Web address loads on the receiving device.
